![]() ![]() ![]() I attended the SIKLAB Awards and they spoke a lot about corporate social responsibility. Ted succeeds despite being harassed by O’Hare, a businessman selling air who’s air business is threatened by the potential return of trees. Living in regret, the Once-ler gives Ted a seed and urges him to plant it. The Lorax, his friend, tries to get him to stop due to the deforestation and industrial waste, but the Once-ler becomes too focused on growth and money, until the last tree is cut down. Eventually demand exceeds the supply, and the Once-ler’s family convinces him to cut the trees. He tells Ted his story of finding trees, and plucking their leaves to make Thneed’s. He comes across the Once-ler, the man who is the reason the trees are gone. In it lives Ted, a little boy who dreams of seeing trees. Thneed-Ville is a city where the environment is so bad that air is for sale, and there are no real trees. ![]() Here is a very condensed summary of the movie: I was one of the many kids who grew up on that story, and I definitely watched it when it became a movie. ![]()
